Ayers Historic House
Great food, good service, excellent staff. Would definately book another work function here. Staff were great with handling all dietary requirements. Great location.
“Well preserved with an informative guide”
We took the tour of the house which included an afternoon tea and a tour of the Treasury Hotel. The hotel was a former government building and it still houses the original cabinet room. Our guides were very knowledgeable and made the tour fun for all ages. In total the tour last over 3 hours and is well worth the small fee. The guides are volunteers for the National Trust and obviously enjoy their work given their enthusiasm shown during the tour. The tour started at Ayers House and then you nee
“The guided tour is awesome”
I and my friends took the night tour of Ayers Historic House. The house is small actually, 1,5 hour is enough. The interesting part is the night guided tour of this historic house. There was a role play by the volunteers illustrating real life inside the house. The visitors were entertained i guess. We had fun!
“Adelaide as it once was.”
Never tire of visiting Ayers House. Our daughter married there and the service was great. I have also been on conducted tours of the "old house" - very interesting.
“Christmas show - a mixed bag, pretty good food BUT”
This is going to be a mixed bag of a report .The night was called " Dancing Under the stars " BUT we were basically in a white tent /marquee with uneven plastic walkways & nothing but 2 lots of table decorations of balloons & a few large gold stars suspended from the ceiling - the Christmas atmosphere was VERY much lacking. My husband & I attended with all of our staff for our end of year/Christmas function. The food was pretty good - 1st course started off with a very small mixed plat

“Couldn't even see the house, big disappointment!”
We'd planned to go to the museum in the afternoon before we had to catch a flight. I had taken my mother to Adelaide for 2 days, and we were limited on time and money. I checked the Ayers House website, which stated "Guided tours of the house run every half hour and hour during museum opening hours and last for about an hour. Entry into the house is only permitted on a guided tour"
Just being a number of two, we turned up at 12:30pm excited to see the house. The woman in the gift shop t
“A wonderful Historic House”
As members of the NZ Historic Places Trust, we were given a full tour of over one hour and learned a lot about the history of the house and its owners.
“Not to be missed”
It was well worth the entrance fee of A$8. The volunteer guide who took us through had all kinds of interesting stories and readily answered our questions. (And we were the last tour of the day too!) The architecture, history, displays were well worth the time and entrance fee. We were so glad we rushed over to the museum...don't miss an opportunity to see it!
The tour is a must if one is in adelaide, The guide was fab. As it was a raining day, there were fewer people and i had a tour of the house and history with it. Very informative and interesting.
“A look back in time”
Took a guided tour of the house and saw a glimpse of what life was like in the early days of SA settlement

Very interesting. We had a personal tour by one of the volunteers. Gave us insights into the early Adelaide days that you could not find in the regular tour books. Margaret also gave us lots of information on other things to do to enjoy this small friendly city. A must stop!
If you like these sort of things, it will be right up your little alley. Nice old houses - what more could you ask for?
I didn't visit the modern part of Ayers House but did a tour of the historic house. It was informative, fascinating to go back in time and gave a sense of what life was like back then. Felt in touch with Adelaide's history. Afternoon tea was rather ordinary considering there is a restaurant attached, bit more thought could have been given although the fresh flowers were a nice touch.

Every other year I buy a membership because my child and her cousin love to go. When we heard that the Space Shuttle Enterprise was coming to town we were excited even though it never went to space. Long story short, you don't get to go inside the shuttle. There is very little interactive displays. My sister went to see the one in Washington DC, she
went inside and it was free.
The rest of the museum is as fantastic as ever. The family still enjoys it.
