“Bad aftertaste”
Just had a wonderful time at the elephant park, BUT.... We enjoyed the bamboo rafting ride down the river. However, we were horrified that we were expected to tip each rafter (there were 2 rafters) THB100. Thought tipping is voluntary? The same happened for the elephant ride and oxen-cart ride. The mahout for the elephant ride kept shouting "100" throughout the ride, a BIG hint about the tip he expected. By the time we reached the end point, he casually said 100 not enough, it should be 200. We 查看详情

“I don't think elephants enjoy playing soccer”
After doing an elephant owner for a day program with another company, where we spent six hours with the same elephant, rode them bare back, bathed them at a waterfall, and fed them... we went to Maetang for bamboo rafting. We didn't ride elephants at this park, but we saw the loading dock and hoards of tourists climbing into the elephant saddles while the mahouts controlled them with bull hooks. (sad face) We were sooo happy we weren't doing elephant trekking at this place... so we walked downed查看详情

“Great trip for kids”
My family of 6 went to the Maetang elephant park and had a great time. Our trip included bamboo rafting down the river, feeding elephants (20-30 baht additional for food), pictures with the elephants (small tips are expected), an elephant show, a buffet lunch, a half hour elephant ride, and an ox cart ride. Our kids absolutely loved it all. My wife and I could have done without the bamboo raft ride, but we enjoyed all other elements of the trip. The buffet lunch had great tasting food. All drink查看详情

“Fun adventure for cheap!”
We left early in the morning to go on this trip and it was maybe 45 mins to an hour away from our hotel but well worth the trip. Our first thing to do was to go rafting on the water which I must admit I was a little afraid to do but once I saw that the water wasn't that deep I was OK. We were then able to see the elephants perform and do so many tricks like kicking balls, standing on one foot and even painting. Amazing! We were also given lunch, kinda buffet style and we sat in the group that ou查看详情

“Just fantastic”
This is elephant lovers' paradise. You can see a show where elephants play soccer and paint their own portraits. You can take a buffalo cart ride and go trekking in the Maetang River on the back of an elephant. You can take a raft ride along the river and visit the Hilltribe people (longnecks). It's a great day's activity.查看详情

“Great experience”
The package offers a great well rounded experience. We especially enjoyed the elephant ride and the show. The food was much better than expected snd the raft ride was nice. It should be noted that the place is expensive and tips at every corner are expected.查看详情

“A nice way to spend an afternoon out of the city”
The day trip to Maetang is a good way to cross a number of items off your list for 'jungle' time without doing an actual trek. After a short ride (about 30mins) from the city you do an elephant ride, an ox cart ride, and then take in a performance by the elephants, and ten after a buffet lunch of Thai foods you finish the day with a bamboo raft trip down the river. I'm sure it is fairly similar to what is done at many elephant parks, but this was a much more rounded experience than we had in oth查看详情

“Fun experience for us but not sure the elephants are enjoying it so much...”
We went to the elephant camp with our baby as we wanted him to meet some elephants. The camp is very well organized you can buy banana and sugar cane to feed them, there is the bath time followed by a show where you can see them paying football, painting, carring wood...you can even do a ride afterward. We did not do this time as our baby is too young for this but it is a very nice experience. We did not observe anyone hitting the elephants as mentioned in some previous reviews else we will comp查看详情

“We had fun but it hurts us to see the elephants being hit”
We booked a tour there as we've heard much about elephant safari & how interesting it is. I must say the show & seeing the elephant bathing was entertaining. The kids like it & especially delighted when they see that elephants could draw. After the show we went on to ride the ox cart. The ride was bumpy but thankfully it's only 20 mins. The weather was really hot but the ride was sheltered. After the ox cart ride, we went on to take the elephant ride. Halfway through, the elephant will make its 查看详情

“Great Experience !! Great Elephants !!”
I really liked this nature and elephant area. The elephant show was neat and the ride was great !! I have been to many parks before and this ride and trail scenery was the best. It is a ride through the river and jungle with a good distance. Not the short 15 minute ride common elsewhere. The elephants look great and there is no sign of being abused. They all look happy and will readily steal your bananas. The raft was very peaceful and tranquil through a jungle river valley. With regards to the 查看详情

“Slave Elephants”
They put on an Elephant show that is entertaining but at the elephants expense. The elephants seem indifferent just going through a routine of tricks they were taught to do. After the show there is a ox cart ride, which is a rough ride and would not recommending doing if you have back problems. The ride back atop an elephant was nice, it goes through the jungle and across the river. Although many other reviewers complained of the trainers bashing the elephants heads I didn't myself experience th查看详情

“Horrific experience of elephants being brutalised”
We were taken to this elephant park by a taxi driver on our first day in Chiang Mai. This is what we saw. Mahout's using large hooked iron bars on the elephants to steer and control. We saw one mahout go from sitting to crouching and then using both hands with an iron bar with a hook (bull hook) smash it into the elephants head as hard as he could 4=5 times. The elephant was in distress. It is the same way a wood chopper chops wood. Each blow would have killed a human being. He did this series o查看详情

“Well worth the money”
Even though it was raining most of the time, riding an elephant for about 45 minutes makes you think how people used to travel the jungles of Thailand 20-50 years ago. It was well worth it going to this Maetang Elephant Park. I would do it again...查看详情

Every other year I buy a membership because my child and her cousin love to go. When we heard that the Space Shuttle Enterprise was coming to town we were excited even though it never went to space. Long story short, you don't get to go inside the shuttle. There is very little interactive displays. My sister went to see the one in Washington DC, she read more went inside and it was free.

The rest of the museum is as fantastic as ever. The family still enjoys it.
