Tha Phae Gate
Tha Phae Gate
If you like touristy stuff, then Tha Phae gate is bearable. But I found it too crowded, and just way too touristy. I avoided this place mostly.
“the most attractive gate”
in this gate you have find everthing: warorot market, the guesthouses in moonmuang, night life areas... if you have not been living in this gate you have not lived in the best chiang mai

This gate has been lovingly restored and gives a glimpse of what the then new walled city was like at it's peak. Always a centre of activity particularly on the sunday market when the square is full of stalls and then the gate opens onto kilometers of wonderful temples, traders, massage and entertainers. it almost symbolises Chiang Mai
“Start your Sunday Evening here”
Thapae Gate is the start of the famous Sunday "Walking Sreeet" market, held every Sunday throughout the year from around 5:00pm onwards. Start your evening browsing the many stalls offering clothes, handicrafts, food and other local produce at Thapae Gate, the entrance to the Old City.
“Drop by at Saturday”
Tha Phae Gate is the main door to access the Old City if Chiang Mai, i suggest to drop by at Saturday because there are Walking Street and you can buy some souvenir or taste the local food with cheap price, Beside that, there are many hotel and restaurant located around this place,
“Best at Songkran”
No place like Tha Phae Gate at Songkran. The Water Festival takes place for days every April. Get a super soaker and walk around, or better yet, hire a pickup truck to drive you around the moat, replete with barrel of ice water. Songkran is going to be one of the most fun experiences of your adult life. When you die and your life passes before you, you'll picture Tha Phae Gate at Songkran

“Lot's happen here...”
Tha Phae Gate is a popular spot with lots of cafe's and shops in the streets surrounding this gate. It is the main gate to the old city. There is a very nice weekly market mainly catering to tourists and sometimes special public events and exhibits happening here. It is a famous spot in Chiang Mai. There is a Starbucks across the street where it is nice to sit and people watch.
“I lov walking street”
There will be a walking street every sunday night. It will start from 5pm to 11pm. It has almost everything selling there. Although I hate the part that there are too many crowned people, i will still go there again if i have a chance.
“Great spot to start your Sunday market adventure!”
This is an excellent start to the Sunday night markets! Outside the gate, there is great market food available, cheap and quality food with lots of choice. This seems to be the textile section of the markets, great cushion covers, throws, covers etc.. you could spend an hour or more in this section before you start the walk through the market streets. Take your time and have a decent look around here if you are up for homewares. Tip- start around 4pm or 5pm before everyone else arrives!
“Monks and Wat”
One of many interesting wats in CM. Simply watching the many young monks is new and insightful for me.
“Something always happening here”
Depending on the time of year, there can be some interesting events taking place here. At times it can become quite congested. Weekly, on Sunday evenings, the streets inside the gate are closed for a peoples walking street market - crowded but interesting.
One of the nicest night market I have been, colorful, lively, interesting snacks and nice massage lining up the area

Every other year I buy a membership because my child and her cousin love to go. When we heard that the Space Shuttle Enterprise was coming to town we were excited even though it never went to space. Long story short, you don't get to go inside the shuttle. There is very little interactive displays. My sister went to see the one in Washington DC, she
went inside and it was free.
The rest of the museum is as fantastic as ever. The family still enjoys it.
