“The Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders”
The Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders in Chiang Mai was a fun place to visit. The displays are not so much a traditional museum as it is a commentary of the founders lives. There are many display cases of insects, shells, rocks, nests and other personal collections of the founders. There are also philosophical quotes and artistic interpretations of nature. Basically, it is a quirky, geeky kind of place, that my wife and I both enjoyed. The wife of the founder, Dr. Rampa Rattanarithikul查看详情

“For someone who has any interest in biology”
The best part was that we were able to meet the 81 year old founder who collected all the specimens. His wife is a PhD entomologist who is one of the world's top mosquito experts.

“Limited Description and not a normal museum”
Great display of various insects, but no explanation for how they lived. Proprietor is very focused but fixated on looking for imagery in natural forms. (ok if you like looking for pictures of Christ in rocks or vegetables) Not a normal museum.

“Well worth the admission fee”
This curious little museum, the life's work of its creator, is a special asset for Chiang Mai. Once you have had your fill of temples (of which there are plenty of beautiful examples in the old city), this is something quite different. The ground floor has information and exhibits about nature (including giant wasps nests and similar) as well as a number of sometimes true and sometimes perhaps curious statements about nature, and various items that can be touched for good luck. The second floor 查看详情

“This makes Chiang Mai unique!”
Tigers and elephants can be seen everywhere on the planet, but this old guy's museum is very very personal, I love it, unique!

Every other year I buy a membership because my child and her cousin love to go. When we heard that the Space Shuttle Enterprise was coming to town we were excited even though it never went to space. Long story short, you don't get to go inside the shuttle. There is very little interactive displays. My sister went to see the one in Washington DC, she read more went inside and it was free.

The rest of the museum is as fantastic as ever. The family still enjoys it.
