“Not much to see really.. A suburb with a few
ruins!”
We did this by a mountain bike tour with a write up which made
us expect a peaceful jungle experience. Which it is not! It is
actually suburb of Chiang Mai, albeit leafy, so some of the time
you are riding on two lane roads with traffic. There are about 7
ruined wats open, mostly only walls standing. Of interest perhaps
to archaeologists but for the amateur not much to see or explore.
Whole trip took less than two hours.
Much less interesting or pleasant compared to the bike tour of the

“Underground in past but should be up front
now!”
Paid for a river cruise and standard horse ride around with no
tour! Driver was hella old and spoke like no English but was
fricking hilarious with what English he tried to give us a tour
with. We loved him! Hey, it's two hours and if you read the
provided pamphlet and read at the museum that starts the tour you
can get the gist! I'd do it if you're visiting and have time to
kill!查看详情

“A pleasant couple of hours”
You can visit Wiang Kum Kam by Tuk Tuk. Just negotiate a price
for there and back and off you go. It's not far out of the city,
but feels very rural. On arrival we were introduced to the driver
of a horse and carriage. (Incidentally, for horse lovers, the
horses are fine - not in poor health or too thin). We set off
around the ruins - a very pleasant mode of transport.
We stopped at the ruins and were not hurried to look around - there
was scarcely anyone around (very few tourists - it was May).查看详情

“Underground Ancient City, First capital of Lanna
Kingdom”
This is the "old" capital city of Lanna Kingdom before Chiang
Mai was founded over 700 years ago. Wiang Kum Kam was frequently
flooded, abandoned and forgotten. It was only recently rediscovered
again in 1984 by local villagers, and some of the sites
excavated.
The sights are not in one particular location, but spread out
through out the village (and even in people's backyards!). You can
tour the site via horseback carriage, tram, or rent a bicycle.
There are also lots of day tours to Wiang Kum 查看详情
Every other year I buy a membership because my child and her cousin love to go. When we heard that the Space Shuttle Enterprise was coming to town we were excited even though it never went to space. Long story short, you don't get to go inside the shuttle. There is very little interactive displays. My sister went to see the one in Washington DC, she

went inside and it was free.
The rest of the museum is as fantastic as ever. The family still enjoys it.
