“A great pick for an evening visit”
Kodai-ji is open in the evenings and in addition to the many historic buildings on- site it has a pleasant stroll through the grounds. It was originally built in 1609.

“Night lighting of autumn leaf garden”
This is my 4th time to visit night time iluminated garden. I have visited in Summer, Spring and Autmun twice. This year's autmun leaf is much more beautiful than last year. Due to 3 days holiday from Nov 23 to 25, 25th night was terribly crowded. People were lined so long and some said that it took 2 hours to enter. We gave up 25th night and came back on 26th night. 26th was Monday and had heavy rain in day time, luckily temple garden was not so much crowded. Trees surrounding the pond were colo查看详情

“Night lighting a bit disappointing”
We expected more from the night lighting but we were disappointed mainly because of the crowd. Aside from the area around the pond, there wasn't much in terms of autumn colors. We thought the dragon sculpture was a little tacky.

“Would love to have seen it after dark”
Built in 1605 for Nene, widow of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Kodaiji makes a lovely retreat, but it has kept up with the times. It is often open late into the evening for floodlit viewings. We were able to see it at dusk - just as the dramatic floodlighting was switched on illuminating the newly revamped gravel garden - which now contains a sea monster made out of roof tiles and old wood. It's certainly different to anything else in Kyoto and we would have loved to stay longer to see it after dark.

“Beautiful complex of temples and gardens”
We visited Kodai-ji at about 8pm on an autumnal evening. The gardens, temples and shrines are lit up at night with a series of lanterns and light displays that are breathtaking in places. The whole place had a magical, otherworldly feeling with a combination of bamboo forest, glassy ponds, autumn colours and ancient temples. Do not miss this experience if you are lucky enough to visit Kyoto: it was one of my highlights.

“Excellent to do in the nite”
When you are done with shrine in the day, checking out rows and rows of shops, and after a heavy dinner, the best thing to do is to visit the kodaji temple. To us, it was a magical experience. The moonlight, the lake, the bamboo, the nite lights. Don't miss this if you have time for a walk in the nite. Last entry is 2130 and park closes at 2200. It is an easy walk and I recommend 45 minutes at least and if you have most time, 1hrs+ wld more than suffice. I lost my pashima on the walk and we went查看详情

“Beautiful Gardens”
Another exquisite temple, they begin to blend in your memory, though Eikan-do always stands out and alone - but that blend is one of history and beauty, so take in as many as you can. You will not regret the time or the effort.

Every other year I buy a membership because my child and her cousin love to go. When we heard that the Space Shuttle Enterprise was coming to town we were excited even though it never went to space. Long story short, you don't get to go inside the shuttle. There is very little interactive displays. My sister went to see the one in Washington DC, she read more went inside and it was free.

The rest of the museum is as fantastic as ever. The family still enjoys it.
